Porcelain veneers involve a cosmetic surgical procedure that shaves down about ½mm of your tooth and cementing a custom-made and custom-designed porcelain ‘shell’ to the front of your tooth. Once bonded in place, they can only be removed by a dentist and you will have that perfect ‘Hollywood’ smile – hiding any and all imperfections.
Composite veneers are thin, custom-made acrylic shells designed to be bonded to the surface of your teeth. Unlike porcelain veneers, there is no procedure to shave down the tooth and the composite veneers can be added directly to your natural teeth.
Composite veneers are a more affordable option than porcelain veneers but they don’t last as long as porcelain veneers and require more frequent upkeep.
Composite Bonding is the quickest and easiest way to repair or hide imperfections on teeth. The dentist will use a ‘white filling-like material’ and is used to reshape and cover any issues. It can be completed the same day, in a single appointment and is the most cost effective option. It is often a great first step in improving your smile for minimum cost.

With high-end porcelain veneers, you will need to commit to 6 monthly clean and checks, every year for the life of your veneers. Veneers are typically quoted on a per-tooth basis; with top-of-the-range porcelain veneers cost ranging from $2,500 – $3,500 per tooth. Composite Veneers and Cosmetic Bonding are a more affordable option and can be quoted by your dentist depending on your needs. Typically, veneer treatments are delivered in sets of 4, 6, or 8 teeth. All depending on how ‘wide’ your smile is – eg: in the mirror make a big smile and count how many teeth you can see from one side to the other. The more you get the more cost-effective they become, as the work can be completed all together in one go, not individually.
